Welcome to Quayside my town by the seaside!

WELCOME TO QUAYSIDE MY TOWN BY THE SEASIDE

Thank you for visiting my blog and thanks even more if you decide to follow :-) I really do enjoying doing it and love to share my projects with you all! In the village at last count I had 18 houses, 14 little roombox size shops, 3 half houses, and 1 half church (half being just a front!) there's also 1 quarter of a house (just half of a front lol) 2 market stalls, 3 market carts and beach huts on the beach although theres always seems to be room for just one more!

I also have a my 1st house a traditional Victorian manor which is very special as it was bought with money left to me by my beloved Nan. There's also my witches house and a witches shop. I also have a lovely Honeychurch house which is my Christmas shop and house and my latest venture a little vintage cottage. But the bulk of my property empire is Quayside, my little Cornish seaside village full of lovely individual cottages and all its wonderful residents. This has become a real labour of love and has turned me from a Dolls house fan into a complete and utter addict! The links below will take you to each of my houses and I especially hope you enjoy your visit to Quayside :-)

Beside the seaside

I am on a roll in Dollyland at the mo lol I seem to have loads of ideas and its always best to get on with them when the inspiration strikes!!

Last night I remade the harbour wall. The old one was fine but it was a little tall and stopped the door of the house opening and its such a pain to keep moving things whenever you want to fiddle inside so I remade it just a bit lower so now it can stay in place. I left one taller part for the buoy and for Bob to moor his boat but as it sits just in between it doesn't get in the way. I also added a name and a number on Bobs boat a little job I have been meaning to do for ages and keep forgetting!

I have been a bit naughty and for all my 'I am not supposed to be spending' statements I have bought a couple of dolls to bring the scenes to life. For the harbour part just for a bit of fun I asked Bernadette to make me a Mermaid and shes lovely! She also made a tiny one that was so cute I had to have that too!! I will have to sneak them in or I will be getting a lecture!!

Today I decided to have a go at the beach part! I boxed in the area as I wanted it to be quite deep with the sand so it really feels like a proper beach. I used children's play sand and got a humongous bag from Argos and used about 1/100th of it lol but it was so cheap it was the best way to do it!  I added some shells and a few accessories but will see what else I can find to add to it.

I had a section of decking from a previous garden I had made so I took off the fencing and added some coloured instead as I thought it looked a bit more seasidey! I did call it a pier but I think its more of a promenade. I just needed somewhere for the donkeys to go. They also needed someone to look after them!

So this is Jeffrey who will be the donkey man!

I have left a space next to it that I need to sponge with white to match it in. As I lost my desk I really needed a small work area so I have left this part empty for that reason.

I had a little play around with upper Quayside to see if the corner shop will fit before I spend hours on it only to find it doesn't! But its fine! Its perfect for the space it just needs a tiny bit off the front of the path which is no problem.

I had to put the chip shop and market either side so the windows aren't blocked off as it won't open (only from the top) you need to be able to see inside easily.

The only trouble with moving it all around is that this happened!! Oh dear ha ha!!!!

EDIT!!! For those good friends of mine who know me soooo well I just might have purchased a little something for the gap!! You know I never considered myself a particularly lucky person, not as in I am lucky as I have a great life kind of lucky,  but lucky as in I never win the lottery/raffles things like that. But when it comes to DH's I def seem to have a lucky streak! I played around yesterday and made a space and low and behold I get an Ebay notification that a Julie shop has come up for sale! I made an offer and now its mine :-) same with the corner shop I live in the middle of nowhere but one just happens to be for sale enroute to the airport! I guess I really am lucky after all !!! Anyway no idea what it will be but its such a pretty colour and has a lovely big bay window so best get my thinking cap on....any ideas??????????

  3. ha ha, As the saying (and Janice above me) says 'Nature abhors a vacuum' so now we will have to have to wait to see what fills it. :-D
I am in love with your mermaid - especially her cockleshell bra and your donkeys are great.

Are you sure you need all that workspace? After all, the things you make are only 6 inches or less. :-p
